Kristy Hanson

Last few days I've been sending out music that's multi-lingual and comes from other cultures. Today I'm going to share a release that's strictly in English, and very sing-along-with-able. It's titled Already Gone, and it's from an independent singer-songwriter named Kristy Hanson.

The comparison that springs to my mind when listening to Kristy is Jewel, kind of. I say kind of because although her voice has some certain tonal similarities, especially when it gets a little dusky, the album feels as a whole as something that Jewel should have produced if she didn't get so mainstream poppish. It's got depth to it that offers more than Jewel's earlier work on Pieces of You but feels like the direction she should have taken. It's also got a rich warmth to it that feels very inviting and intimate (much like Jewel, except perhaps a little more mature).

All that being said, the ten tracks on the album are certainly worth the listen, and here are two to get you started.
