6 down, 9 to go

So as I mentioned a few posts ago when talking about The Honored Guests, I have the great honor of being a graduate student. One of the incredibly enjoyable benefits of being one is the end of the semester final paper. The end of the semester 15 page paper. The end of the semester 15 page paper with 7 outside sources. (please note intended sarcastic tone) In this particular case, it's about the environmental writer Barry Lopez and man's connection with nature in this increasingly technological world (for example me writing this blog).

So, with that in mind, please forgive the lack of posts for the last few days, as well as for the next few days. Because I know your ears still need music to listen to, regardless of my higher education requirements, enjoy the following.

Lou Barlow & His Sentridoh - Natural Nature : Lou Barlow And His Sentridoh

Mates Of State - Nature and the Wreck : Bring It Back

Sarah Vaughan - I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter (live) : At Mister Kelly's

Say Hi to Your Mom - They Write Books About This Sort of Thing
: Discosadness

This Mortal Coil - Nature's Way : Blood

Try reading Jacques Ellul's 'The Technological Society' written in the 60's, goes a bit deeper regarding the problems with humankinds' trend to see the application of "Le technique" to everything. An obvious way one can see the schism in humankind's nature is in our relationship with the flora and fauna. Give this book a spin...You won't regret it! p.s. thanks for the posts!

Thanks anonymous. I'll check it out when I'm done next week.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the process of writing a +100 page research paper on the Endangered Species Act with 35 annotated sources and about 3 sources for each of those. It's a blast.. Good luck with your paper and we look forward to you posting when you can.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the name of that Say Hi to Your Mom song is "They Write Books About This Sort of Thing"

On a more positive note, I really enjoy your blog a lot. I stumbled upon your "Awash in EP's" post due to me being a huge Sea Wolf fan, and I think you're a great writer.
