I'm going to come right out and say it. Grand Ole Party had to have taken a peak into the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' play-book. Both bands are trios fronted by women with extremely similar voices (Kristin Gundred in GOP's case, and of course Karen O from the YYYs) that ooze sensuality in their snarling way while at the same time demanding respect. One difference though would be the instrumentation. While serving as lead vocalist for the band, Kristin also plays the drums, which during live shows are front and center as opposed to pushed to the back in most set-ups.

The album was recorded live in an amazingly short five days, but you'd never know it while listening. The group enlisted Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennet to help out on the album, and coincidentally, they're touring with Rilo Kiley this fall (tour dates below). And since I've been grooving to Rilo Kiley's latest lately as well (read about it here), it's a safe bet that it's going to be a killer show.

Grand Ole Party - Insane : Humanimals
Grand Ole Party - Bad Bad Man : Humanimals
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion (Diplo Remix) : Gold Lion single
