Junior League Moving Up

Fans of Brandi Carlile will NOT want to miss the debut album Oh Dear from up and coming band Junior League. Formed around the sweet yet strong vocals of singer and songwriter Lissy Rosemont, the band puts forth a slice of Appalachian bluegrass tinged folk music that feels like it's rooted in tradition yet still puts forth something modern to claim for its own.

According to Lissy, her music harkens back to three major influences: 1) her mother waking up the house every morning by playing hymns on the piano 2) her father waking her up in the middle of the night to sing his favorite Hank Williams tunes to his buddies and 3) her family's fiddler festival in Union Grove, NC where she has been performing or watching her father, Hal Beaver, play since she was a child. With banjo, mandolin, fiddle, accordion and harmonica blended in purposeful amounts, you can see where the band's roots lie, but they aren't tied to imitation.
